About

Heather Rumore is the owner of Dovetail Custom Kitchens, LLC, a premier kitchen design studio and residential remodeling company based out of Branford, Connecticut.

Heather grew up in the historic neighborhood of Silvermine in Norwalk, Connecticut. She developed a passion for designing and creating things at a very young age; from building skyscrapers out of blocks in kindergarten, to constructing a village of igloos with the neighborhood kids on snow days, to secretly attempting to restore an antique neighborhood barn with friends as a teenager.

Heather graduated from Roger Williams University with a Bachelor of Architecture in 2006, with minors in Visual Arts and Italian. During college, she had the unique opportunity to study abroad at The Institute of Fine Arts at Palazzo Rucellai in Florence, Italy.

After graduating architecture school, Heather worked for a residential architecture firm in New Canaan, CT, then went on to work for larger architecture firms in New Haven and Old Lyme, working on a combination of residential and commercial projects. After seven years of working in architecture, she decided to pursue her passion for residential design and took a position as a Project Manager for a residential construction company, where she discovered her true passion for Kitchen Design.

Since 2014, Heather has specialized in Architectural Kitchen Design, Project Management, and Residential Remodeling, and is involved with each project from initial concept to completion of the finishing details, working closely with contractors, installers, and other trade professionals to ensure each design is precisely executed.

Heather understands the essential balance of form and function and believes in a collaborative process with each client. Her goal on every project is to create a beautiful, timeless, functional space for families and friends to gather and enjoy life! She loves to cook and entertain, and personally knows the value of a well-designed kitchen, the most frequently used room in the house!

Heather is grateful to have found her niche within the industry, utilizing her innovative ideas, keen attention to detail, balanced aesthetic, and passion for residential design. She would love to be a part of your next project!
